Holiday flu-blah

I just stopped by really quick (while i had the energy) to write this quick blog entry...its been a lil while and i want to write something every day, but man this weather and germs have hit me hard and the entire house is sick sick sick..congestion, sneezing, watery eyes, the list goes on and on...That being said my lil brain is always go go going and i got in the clear glass ornaments not that long ago and actually started one of my Merry Breastmas ornaments.. photos will come shortly..i'll try and present the step by step process regardless of how it turns out..When you're so used to worrying about what other people think and what they'll say, its hard.  That is a big reason why i started this art journey...the messages and emails i've gotten the last few months have been amazing, and while of course i have an enormous amount of the "other" messages and comments, it is those positive comments and messages that tell me people care and are aware of the need for more voices to speak out against body shaming and bullying..the abuse that plagues us..dont get me started im exhausted having only written this little, the good news is im actually feeling better...as the holidays now roll up on us, please please remember kindness and compassion are two amazing gifts we need to be giving all year round, not just when we are reminded during the season of giving.  If more people gave and paid it forward, than they did take and keep for themselves this world would be a better place!

Website update!

I just wanted to take a minute to let our loyal friends and pawpals know that we have been unable to get in donations to pay for our three month website service.  As a result our six years of hard work has been put on temporary hold until we can pay the fees and get things back up and running.  Until then we will run off our facebook page and here on our blog.  My heart is so heavy with disappointment, since we are the only organized group towards raising awareness on K9 Glaucoma!  We're trying to get things turned around...thank you for your continued support!

Greetings and Updates!!

Hope you all are having a wooftastic Monday!! We know it's been a while but since moving so much has happened that we barely have had time to think.  My humans have been struggling with ongoing health issues, with trying to deal with the every day house repairs, bills that can't seem to stay paid and my ongoing vet bills.  The good news is (drumroll please!) I still have full sight in my good eye!! THats right!! Against the odds we have managed to beat glaucoma and use the amazing vitamin tablets to help me keep sight for a little longer.  My fatty cysts, however, have really taken over my body and while they don't hurt any, make me look larger than life...yes pawpals I have a dog-a-liscious booty!! I'll get my photos uploaded as soon as i can but i just wanted to let everyone know this old dog is still around and ready to get back to work raising awareness about K9 Glaucoma! Woof!

Update..Not a happy one

Yesterday my entire life was turned upside again, as we had to rush Spike off to the emergency vets only to find out that he has a body full of stones..He's 10, so of course people and the vet were negative about surgery and options, but he's not ready to go yet and we arent ready to let him go.  Tomorrow we get the results back from the vet and see if anything else is wrong and how his kidneys are..basically to see if the surgery he will have to have to have them all removed will be feasible..hearing that killed the last bit of light i had left in me..nothing else has gone right since we left the military this past october.  We can barely keep food on the table, never mind pay our mortgage and utilities, having a growing teenage son is quite a task in itself..Spike is more than a pet to us, he's our foundation, our light...He gives me reason to hold after all that he has been through, and all we have been through together.  I have no right to ask anyone for anything, but I cannot accept losing faith or hope that this will work out.  We would trade everything to have one more Christmas with him.Spike for Christmas, thats our christmas wish..If you can share or even donate a dollar and help, we would be forever grateful  and continue to raise awareness and funds for K9 Glaucoma, as well as to continue helping those in need. Thank you so much for taking time to read this..Just not much for words on such little sleep..Bless you and yours!

Busy as a bee!!

You know that saying, "Busy as a bee!" I have totally been living that since we last posted.  I know i know im horrible but so much has happened and changed that its hard to try and keep up with everything and everyone.  Spike is doing well still, we have managed to keep his right eye still free from the glaucoma, and the left one that is blind, while getting scratched occasionally, more often than not looks normal.  Sometimes we forget he's half blind! It's so important that we put K9 Glaucoma awareness on the front burner, I know that its easy to get wrapped up in so many things, but for families like mine, who struggle just to barely get by and take care of their fur babies, life is tougher with the burden of diseases like glaucoma.  We often find ourselves in a position where we can't donate money and think we cant help..I can't even begin to tell you how wrong you are.  The research humans have on diseases of the eyes, like glaucoma, is ongoing and well funded, whereas our fur children are left to little to no research, and that my friends is due to lack of funding and awareness.  So as I struggle to put my human life back in order, after falling apart,I'm jumping head first once again into K9 Angel corps, there are far too many animal lovers out there, who should be standing by our sides and getting the word out.  Look out world, we're back in business!! Have a blessed night/morning!

Happy Blessed New Years Eve 2013..

From all of us here at the K9 Angel Corps, we want to take a minute to thank all of our new friends, twitter followers, and Angels for helping to get us through this past year.  We, like so many, are more than ready to let this year go and begin the new one!...I know it's been a while since we have posted, we've been so busy with our personal health woes, and Spike struggling with head to toe cysts, that time just got away from us..However, we are in the process of creating some fun og and cat collars, as well as other handmade goodies for your fur baby that will help us to raise not only awareness to K9 glaucoma, but also to help us raise funds to help other families struggling with the same.  As far as Spikes personal update goes, it looks like we're going to have to pay for the surgery to remove his blind eye after all..It just keeps getting infected, and as much as I want to hold onto him and he always looked, his comfort is more important.  That's it for now folks..Be safe!!

Yay! We count our blessings every day, and grateful for every moment we have him in our lives.  At 12 yrs aof age, he's lived a wonderful life and we look forward to spending whatever time has left making him feel on top of the world.

July 13th, 2013 update

Hey everyone!!! Please forgive me for not having updated everyone for quite some time.  Between going to two colleges, tending to spike, and both my husband and my son turning new ages over the next few days things have been hectic and somehow time has slipped away.  So here's the update on spike..Spike's blind eye is still struggling with eye infection after infection but his good eye is still free from Glaucoma!! The longer we hold it off the better! However, time is just unkind to him, as his entire body from head to paws is covered in cysts many of which are so huge and spreading out quickly.  While they arent cancerous, because of his age they wont remove them and some of them are in places that make it hard to move or lay down.  Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers <3

Thankful Thursday!!

Today is thankful thursday!! We are thankful today for the blessings we have been given, including our food, shelter, and family.  We are grateful to have built a powerful network and support group that helps to get the word out about K9 glaucoma! Most of all we are thankful for you!!

Diet change and odds and ends!

This has been one of the busiest weeks I have had in quite some time.  Spike is still struggling with these continuously emerging fatty cysts even with a change in the dog food we buy so its time to put him on an organic diet as well.  I have been reading article after article about adding turmeric to his diet and have been rather leery.  At this point, I want to see him getting better and not worse, so time to dig further into research.  Most anyone who knows me, knows that I am heavily into holistic therapies and treatments, I just haven't done much in the way  of research for the pet side of this field.  Also his 'good" eye seems to have cleared up a bit and looks healthy again, still going to have to keep an eye on it.  I'm busy working on some new collars for K9 glaucoma awareness, photos coming soon!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!

This weekend I've been busy doing research for assignments for both colleges, keeping up with the anti-monsanto stuff, and trying to keep poor spike comfortable.  The cysts are growing pretty quick, and even though the vet say they are just fatty and non cancerous, it doesnt make him any more comfortable.  Anyways, I have drawn up a variety of designs for the K9 Angel Corps, and even working on some fancy earth friendly pet jewelry.  So yep, we're pretty busy, but gettin things done.  Just gotta take one day at a time.  Have a safe and great weekend!

Had to share!

Worth the time to read and watch!

Thankful Thursday!!!

Today is Thursday, so to get back on track, that means it thankful Thursday!! Yay! Today we are thankful for the eye drops we still have managed to pay for, that help to keep spike's eye on a semi good road.  We are thankful for all of those in Oklahoma who managed to survive that horrific ordeal.  There is no limit to the love, support, and hopes for a quick recovery all of you and your families deserve.  We are thankful f course for each other, for our health, and for the opportunity to help others who face the same dark journey that we have.  And we are thankful for each and every one of you to keep the word about our group going, and helping us to build the support we need.  You have no idea how amazing and important each of you are to us.  From my family to yours have a very thankful end to your own Thursday!
